The whole "glow up" thing has me thinking deeper lately. Sure, social media's full of those physical transformation posts, but what if our most meaningful glow up isn't about looks at all? What if it's something happening inside us when we let God's light shine through?
I was reading Matthew 5:16 the other day and it says, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." I struck me that this isn't just some nice Bible verse, it's basically an invitation to live with real purpose in everything we do.
The Spiritual Glow Up
What Makes You Shine?
I've been realizing true radiance isn't about being perfect, it's about being real. When we embrace who God made us to be, we naturally light up the rooms we're in. Let's ask ourselves:
- What gifts has God given me that actually bring light to others?
- Where do I feel most alive and purposeful?
- How can I intentionally shine in my everyday environments?
Don't Dim Your Light
So many of us were taught to be so humble we practically disappear. But I'm learning there's this sweet spot between humility and confidently shining the light God put in you. Your light isn't meant to be hidden, diminished or dimmed, right? It's supposed to guide others home.
Practical Ways to Let Your Light Shine
- Morning Light Ritual
I started lighting a candle during my morning prayer time. Watching that flame grow while asking God to help my light shine brighter today than yesterday. Simple but powerful.
- Intentional Interactions
I'm trying to choose one person each day to encourage. Sometimes it's just a genuine compliment, sometimes a thoughtful text. It's amazing how a small moment of presence can brighten someone's worst day.
- Social Media Mindfulness
Before I post anything now, I try to ask myself: "Does this reflect His light or just my ego?" Trying to use my accounts to spread hope, not comparison. Still working on this one!
- Create Light Spaces
I've been decorating my home with little reminders to shine. Got some scripture cards, a couple of candles, meaningful photos and even opening some blinds to let the light in. All of this helps me refocus throughout the day when I get distracted.
Your Light Has Purpose
The thing I keep coming back to is that we don't shine to make ourselves look good, we shine to light the path to Christ. When someone asks what makes you different, what an amazing opportunity to point to the Source of your light.
