Why Caring for Your Body is Kingdom Work

Why Caring for Your Body is Kingdom Work

When you hear the word fitness, what comes to mind? Maybe a packed gym, endless miles on a treadmill, or that pressure to “look the part.” But as believers, fitness isn’t about chasing trends or vanity, it’s about stewardship.

The Bible reminds us: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

That changes everything. Caring for our bodies isn’t optional, it’s Kingdom work.

Fitness as Stewardship

Your body was designed for more than just getting through the day. It was created to glorify God. When you hydrate well, fuel your body with nourishing food, stretch, walk, and rest, you’re not just “being healthy”, you’re honoring the One who gave you life.

Think of it this way: you can’t pour into others if your own cup is empty. Spiritual endurance often flows from physical strength and mental clarity. Stewardship means managing every resource God has given us,  including the body He entrusted to us.

Breaking the Myths

Let’s clear the air:

Fitness is not vanity. It’s discipline. It’s worship.

Rest is not laziness. God Himself rested on the seventh day.

Wellness isn’t selfish. It equips you to serve others with joy and energy.

Practical Faith-Filled Fitness

Move Daily: Take a prayer walk, stretch with scripture meditation, or put on worship music while you flow through simple exercises.

Hydrate Often: Every sip is a reminder of the Living Water who refreshes our souls.

Rest Intentionally: Honor your body by giving it downtime,  just as you honor the Sabbath.

Gear up with Purpose: What you wear can inspire your mindset. A hoodie or tee with scripture can encourage you (and those around you) as you move through your day.
